Responsibilities:
James F. Butler & Associates, insurance staff counsel for State Farm Insurance Companies, is seeking a paralegal to join the Jericho, NY office. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, supporting Attorneys with discovery, trial preparation, pleadings and pre-trial motions in first and third party insurance defense/bodily injury cases. The most qualified candidates will have the ability to communicate effectively, work independently, and prioritize workload in a fast paced and time sensitive environment.
This is a hybrid position working Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The position is classified as a hybrid role, meaning that the work arrangement calls for hours in the office and virtually. The selected candidate should plan to spend time working both in the Jericho office and from home (if desired) as part of a hybrid work arrangement. Work arrangements could change over time based on business needs.
Based in Jericho, NY, we enjoy an active and busy civil trial practice. We provide a congenial, team-oriented, and professional work environment with skilled support staff.
Qualifications:
1-7 years of paralegal experience preferably in insurance defense or personal injury environment
Paralegal degree, certificate, and/or paralegal education
Ability to draft pleadings, routine motions, discovery, and legal memoranda
Familiarity with Court Rules and Procedures
Experience with discovery process
Trial preparation experience
Understanding of medical terminology and records
Understanding of internet information resources and software applications with the ability to develop greater automation expertise
Potential salary range: $66,117.19-$80,000
Potential yearly incentive pay up to 10% of the base salary (results may vary year to year)
