Mental Health America (MHA) is seeking a Vice President of Alliance Development. This position will represent MHA’s interests to critically important partners in the health field, including pharmaceutical companies, health insurers, health systems, digital therapeutics companies, coalitions, and other chronic disease organizations. This VP of Alliance Development will focus on relationship-building and information exchange with external health-related partners. The ideal fit for this position: Loves building and maintaining relationships with a wide variety of partners. Enjoys having days that are mostly communicating with people through emails, phone calls, and Zoom meetings (if you hate Zoom meetings, this is NOT the position for you!) Loves to be “in the know” and keeps up with industry news Finds joy in networking events and group meetings Is an active listener who loves conversation Can speak in detail about health policy Takes good notes about relationship development Knows how to link partners with other appropriate staff members Has a passion for innovative and strategic fundraising and stewardship The vast majority of the VP of Alliance Development’s time will be spent engaging with partners and funders to strengthen existing and form new relationships. There is a high volume of emails, phone calls, meetings, collaboration with partners and co-workers, and participating in external group meetings. Health policy is very complex, and mental health policy has a lot of nuances. Someone with a health policy or chronic health background will thrive in this position. Someone with experience in mental health policy and digital health will excel. The VP of Alliance Development will report to the Chief Marketing and Advancement Officer to align all resource development strategies. However, the VP of Alliance Development will work very closely with MHA’s policy team and keep up with other MHA program team members. Many events take place in the Washington, DC area; non-local candidates will be expected to travel regularly (up to 25%), and local candidates will have some travel for funder meetings and conferences (up to 10%). Local candidates are strongly encouraged; full-time remote employment would be considered. The Vice President of Alliance Development will engage in the following activities: Primary point of contact for health-related partners, including (with current, significant number of relationships identified and help position MHA for growth: Pharmaceutical Companies (~15 partners) Health Insurers and Payers (!5 partners) National Pharmacy Chains (~2 partners) Health Systems (~3 partners) Digital Therapeutics Companies (~8 partners) Coalitions and groups that represent mental health or chronic health (6 partners) Other chronic disease or health advocacy organizations (multiple partners with lower general time investment) Meet regularly with health-related partners: Sharing updates about MHA’s activities Learning about partner’s activities and sharing updates with MHA staff and affiliates Developing and pitching funding or partnership opportunities Maintaining a high level of satisfaction with partnership relations Coordinating meetings or work with other staff at MHA Work with health partners to identify resources and opportunities for events such as MHA’s Annual Conference Write funding proposals and letters of request and/or work with fund development staff to apply for grants (up to 20% of time spent on this) Stay up to date on industry trends and news Represent MHA at external meetings (including coalition meetings, network events, and conferences) with health-related partners Speak or present about MHA activities or mental health at health partner meetings Identify new potential partners, build relationships and develop new opportunities Work with MHA staff to: Develop systems to track and ensure deliverables and reports are submitted on time Keep health partners updated about current and future MHA activities Meet twice a week with the policy team Meet as needed with other groups at MHA Prioritize partnerships and opportunities that advance mental health equity and the mental health of diverse populations (BIPOC, LGBTQ, and people with disabilities included) Link health-related partners to state and local MHA affiliates (these are separately incorporated organizations across the country) Support the work of other MHA projects or activities as needed or as interested #J-18808-Ljbffr
