What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $76,426 - $126,103. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to: A guaranteed life-long monthly pension, once vested after 5 years of service 457B Retirement Plan 140 hours of PTO earned within first year + 11 paid holidays, 1 personal holiday and 1 volunteer day per year Competitive medical, dental and vision plans effective within 1 month of start date Location

In this position you can expect to work on site at Denver's City and County Building up to five days per week for the first six months. After successful completion of the probationary period, you will be expected to work three days per week on site.

What You'll Do

The City and County of Denver's City Council is the city's legislative brand responsible for passing or changing city laws, appropriating all funding, issuing proclamations, approving mayoral appointees for specified city departments, and investigating some forms of misconduct. Denver is divided into 11 council districts of equal population, each represented by one council member. Two council members are elected "at large." All council members serve four-year terms.

As the Senior Human Resources Business Partner for City Council, you will support council members and staff. This includes providing full performance level human resources support related to performance management, leadership development, talent management, dispute resolution, conflict management, classification and compensation, workforce planning, change management, data analysis, and employee engagement. A successful candidate will be a forward-facing advisor to city leaders, expert at developing collaborative partnerships and building effective relationships, and passionate about solving complex workforce challenges with data-informed decisions.

Specifically, as the Senior Human Resources Business Partner you will:

Consult and provide recommendations to employees and managers regarding human resources matters, best business practices and organizational development Consult with city leaders to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention Partner with city leaders to develop strategies and initiatives that promote a culture of leadership, equity and engagement for the entire organization Be the primary point of contact for HR programs, tools, metrics, and analytics impacting your organization Partner with Centers of Excellence including Talent Acquisition, Compensation and Classification, Learning and Development and Benefits to recommend and execute business solutions Develop leadership, retention and engagement strategies that help to move the organization forward by developing strong leaders and a stronger workforce Provide data analytics on our people practices and to tell our talent story Develop implement and monitor HR process improvement initiatives Effectively manage employee relation issues and investigations as needed What You'll Bring

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:

5 plus years working as an HR Professional for a complex organization 5 plus years of experience managing and investigating employee relations issues 3 plus years of experience working with compensations issues Experience in developing leadership and coaching programs Experience using Human Resources Management Systems (e.g., Workday) Ability to build professional relationships with a variety of people, at all levels of the organization Experience providing and receiving feedback to/from leaders and employees Municipal government knowledge base a plus Required Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field Experience: Five (5) years of professional human resources experience Education & Experience Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements
