Position Summary:

The IT Systems Administrator supports and communicates with users at all levels of the agency and external partners about complex systems issues. The position is responsible for identifying root cause(s) of system decline and/or failures and develop solutions; provide technical assistance and consultation; and to ensure effective coordination of IT support functions and projects.

Works under general supervision along with the Director of Information Technology to provide efficient and effective technical support for all agency technology platforms. Including but not limited to windows-based server environment, network infrastructure, and cloud-based software solutions. These support services will be provided onsite at the Main Building as well as satellite offices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide desktop support for agency staff on windows-based devices by providing a high level of customer service, proactively understanding user needs, preferences, and expectations. Must be adaptable to changing circumstances, priorities, and business environment.
  • Analyze complex situations, consider various perspectives, and make informed decisions to develop effect solutions. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide training and operation assistance in the implementation and utilization of hardware and/or software. Maintain and create training materials and teaching aids.
  • Administer MS Active Directory, Azure AD, Server Operating system, O365, MS Group policy, DNS, DHCP; end user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access privileges and security; Internet/Intranet support network and remote connectivity and hardware/software support.
  • Analyze and define agency disaster recovery responsibilities and procedures. Responsible for data backup software, administration, and restoration.
  • Complete tasks, projects and perform systems software and hardware reviews based on established timelines.
  • Provide support for individual user's hardware and software issues, performing diagnostic solution discovery and applying the required process to answer or recover and repair.
  • Review and recommend hardware and/or software purchases as directed.
  • Monitor the operational systems environment and alerts management to inefficient and security issues.
  • Assist in and/or coordinate the designing of the procedures necessary to save and recover local area network or wide area network environments from hardware and software failures. Administer the implemented technologies.
  • Assist with the investigation of resources as directed for system and user usage statistics, and implements appropriate measures as directed.
  • Assist with the development of goals and objectives for the development and use of an efficient and cost-effective network.
  • Coordinate effective use of internal and external hardware and software resources.
  • Manage Vendor relationships to ensure efficient response to staff support needs.
  • Other assignments may be added as needed or required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Information Technology or Computer Science, or a minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience with computer systems and networks, hardware, and software, focusing on or in systems administration, implementation, and security responsibilities, may be substituted for education.
  • Certifications in Microsoft Server, Office 365 or Cloud preferred.
Special Considerations:
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel within the assigned region; if driving own vehicle, must have valid driver's license and current vehicle insurance.
  • Must keep approved certifications up to date.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work more than 8 hours per day.
  • Work well independently, and as part of a team.
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel as necessary to fulfill daily duties assigned.
  • Ability to communicate effectively/clearly.
