Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Life/Dean of Students, the Director of Community Living is responsible for the administration of a comprehensive residential life and student development program grounded in, and supported by, the Franciscan and Catholic traditions and values of the College. The Director will be expected to articulate a vision for a community living program based on the inclusive relational nature of these traditions. Siena College supports a vibrant residential community consisting of approximately 2,500 students in traditional residence halls and townhouse settings, representing approximately 80% of all undergraduate students. The Director is required to participate in an on-call duty rotation and maintain a visible presence on campus, including some events on evenings & weekends. This is a live-on position with the Director residing in a home provided by the College. Position Summary: Housing Operations Manage the College's 2,500 bed spaces, including implementing the housing processes for new students (Summer & Winter) and returning students (February-March). Train Community Living staff to utilize the housing management system to track and monitor occupancy, room changes, meal plans, and other needs. Provide regular updates to campus partners and senior leadership related to housing occupancy and projections. Work with the Office of Institutional Research to compile reports, data, and projections needed to accurately plan for future needs. Community Development Establish policies, procedures, and programs that provide for the safety, security, and comfort of residents and promote student retention, student engagement, and academic success. Oversee residential programming efforts in conjunction with Assistant Director. Coordinate departmental assessment initiatives to collect student feedback and then utilize the data to implement changes to improve the student experience. Chair the Community Living Advisory Committee to gather student input and feedback related to residential life and housing, including feedback related to future residence hall renovation projects. Staff Supervision Hire, train, supervise and evaluate a professional staff of 7, including one (1) Assistant Director/Residence Director (dual role), one (1) Area Coordinator, four (4) Residence Directors, and one (1) Office Manager. Provide overall leadership for a paraprofessional Community Assistant staff of 66 student leaders and approximately 25 student employees working in the residence halls. Campus Collaboration & Support Cultivate intentional relationships and partnerships with key campus stakeholders including, but not limited to: Facilities Management, Finance & Administration, Academic Success Center, Dining Services, Conference Services, Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, Marketing & Communications, International Programs, Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), Counseling Center, Student Activities & Leadership Development, Health Services, etc. Oversee, with the Vice President of Student Life, the Friar in Residence program to promote opportunities for service, reflection, and worship within the residential life programming model. Work closely with the Dean of Students to ensure a consistent and fair implementation of the College's Code of Conduct and Residential Living Guidelines. Serve on College committees including the Student Concerns Team, Campus Dining Committee, Orientation Committee, Accommodations Committee, Saint Card Committee, and others as needed. Annual salary: $66,400.00 The hiring salary above represents the College's good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law. Job Requirements: Master's degree in higher education or related field; A minimum of five (5) years of progressive residential life/housing experience; Prior on-call emergency response experience; Exceptional administrative, organizational, relationship-building, and communication skills; A background screening will be required. On Campus Residence: The successful candidate will be required to live in an on-campus home (not connected to any residence hall/facility) due to participation in on-call system and evening/weekend commitments. Meal Plan Candidate will receive a 5 meal per week meal plan. Additional Information: Benefits: Siena College offers a generous benefit package to eligible full-time employees.
