Knoxville Dermatology Group (KDG) is one of the largest groups of board certified dermatologists in Tennessee. All of our physicians are board-certified with extensive dermatology experience. With thirteen providers between two locations, West Knoxville & Sevierville, we are able to treat our patients for all of their dermatology needs. 

Responsibilities:
Escort patient to exam room and confirm first & last name & DOB. 

Obtain and record vital signs. 

Organize patient flow. 

Setup procedure tray, instruments, and equipment according to instructions. 

Prepare Path/lab specimens, route to correct lab directed by patient insurance plan. 

Respond to patient questions in office and on phone as instructed. 

Check to-dos/Nurse line. 

Calibrate, clean, sterilize and inventory all equipment & instruments according to schedule.  Keep appropriate records of maintenance. 

Maintain medication supplies, discard out-of-date supplies, and keep appropriate records. 

Maintain infection control and make sure supply rooms and cabinets are stocked. 

Ordering, sorting, restocking and inventory of all supplies.  

Document all medical instructions given to patients, thoroughly review wound care with patients when applicable. 

Anesthesia/Inject for procedures. 

Ensure all phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental mail are addressed in a timely manner. 

Must maintain HIPAA compliance 

Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management. 

Qualifications:
Able to triage patient problems. 

Be familiar with and compliant OSHA/HIPAA, infection control & Blood Borne Pathogen Standards. 

Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments. 

Experience administering injections. 

Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes. 

Knowledge of office financial policies. 

Basic computer skills and experience in EMR utilization. 

Able to operate standard office equipment (i.e. computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc) 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Fluent in English 

Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. 

Ability to work in an effective, cooperative, and courteous manner with staff, patients, and visitors. 

Must be able to travel to satellite offices as needed 

Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team 

Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.   

Ability to spell, sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically.   

Licensure/Certifications/Education:

Education and Experience:

High School Graduate or GED required.

Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, Certified Nursing Assistant program or completion of a bachelor’s degree program in the pre-med or pre-physician’s assistant track preferred.

CPR certified preferred.

1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or other clinical patient care experience preferred.

Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred.

 

Physical Requirements: 

Standing and walking for extended periods of time 

Moderate amount of talking, bending, twisting, reaching, and balancing. 

Use of hands and fingers. 

Talking and listening in person and on the telephone. 

Handling of materials such as paper, supplies, etc. 

Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds. 

Risk of exposure to infectious organisms and the possibility of injury due to chemicals and sharp objects.
