PURPOSE STATEMENT The Superintendent oversees all educational programs in Nevada by providing leadership to both further develop and maintain a high-quality, exceptional education for Legacy students. The superintendent reports to the LTS School Board and supervises all LTS NV employees, directly or indirectly. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Communication: Disseminate information regarding board action to all stakeholders. Seeks stakeholder feedback on board actions and policies. Keeps stakeholders informed about the district’s status and initiatives. Facilitates regular meetings to discuss school improvement and needs. Provides timely information to the Board for decision-making. Promotes and provides professional development for all employees. Leadership: Implements and supports the district’s mission, vision, and goals. Facilitates collaborative efforts between stakeholders to determine educational needs and priorities. Attends professional development and uses educational resources to stay updated on best practices and initiatives. Promotes a safe, respectful, and healthy school environment. Accepts responsibility for the efficiency of the school district, for the development of school-based staff and for the educational growth and safety of students. Supervision/Evaluation: Develop and implement staff supervision and evaluation systems. Ensure teaching methods and administrative practices reflect current best practices and meet the needs of all students. Administers and oversees methods of teaching, supervisions and administration in all phases of the school system. When needed, assists with employee relations, grievances or performance concerns. School Finance/Budgeting: Participate in district budget development and financial planning. Present and explain the annual budget to stakeholders. Assist site-based administration in the development of school budgets. Align budget and resources with strategic goals. Establish and maintain effective procedures and controls for all expenditures. Reviews school budgets monthly with administrative teams. Organizational Management: Leads continuous school improvement efforts. Advises the Board on policy needs and ensures policy implementation. Makes necessary administrative decisions and delegates responsibilities as needed. Holds meetings of administration, teachers and staff as needed to address matters concerning the improvement of or carrying out educational programming. Community Relations: Maintains public relations to inform the community of school activities and needs. Encourages community involvement in the schools. Understands and addresses community needs and perspectives. Represents the district or sends a delegate to municipal and community meetings. Represents the Board as a liaison between the school district, SPCSA and other governmental agencies. Represents the district with all philanthropic donors. School/Community Involvement: Maintains visibility in schools and community affairs. Stays informed about school activities and needs. Communicates educational practices and trends to the public. Attends campus and community events. School Improvement: Supervises and evaluates school programs for continuous improvement. Stay updated on educational research and initiatives. Ensures fidelity with the comprehensive student assessment system. Advises the Board on educational programs and instructional practices. Curriculum: Participates in curriculum development and assessment efforts. Ensures that all curriculum and education programming are aligned to Nevada Academic Content Standards (NACS). Continuously reviews and makes recommendations for educational programs and materials. Determines timeliness of curriculum revisions and replacement. Superintendent/Board Relations: Ensures compliance with laws, regulations, and Board policies. Keeps the Board informed about district activities and needs. presents information, status checks, reports and current educational trends to the board to allow for informed decision-making. Formulates and submits recommendations to the Board for possible action. Supports the Board in developing goals and policies. Secures and nominates for employment quality administrators and district personnel. Secures and nominates for consideration supportive, involved community members for possible Board member roles. Makes recommendations to the Board for expansions, improvements, alterations to existing school sites or proposed new school sites. Attends and participates in all regular and special meetings of the Board. Staff Development: Promotes continuous learning and improvement for staff. Participates in developing effective staff development systems. Advocates for staff participation in professional growth opportunities. Seeks community mentoring and internship opportunities to develop the school-to-staff pipeline. Personnel Management: Participates in recruitment efforts to attract qualified administrative, teaching and support role candidates. Recognizes employee contributions to school improvement and innovative thinking. When needed, assists with employee relations, grievances or performance concerns. Supports school administration and supervisors in managing personnel, evaluations and development. School Facility Management: Works with the facilities department regarding expansions, improvements, and alterations to existing school sites or proposed new school sites. Participate in developing long-term maintenance plans for facilities. Seeks feedback and input from the facilities team on campus and building needs for budget planning purposes. Compliance: Abides by Federal and Nevada statutes, board policies and regulations. Audits educational programs for compliance and advises stakeholders when revisions are needed. Completes and files (or oversees the operation of) all state and federal reporting. Ensures that all curriculum and education programming is aligned to Nevada Academic Content Standards (NACS). Oversees proper maintenance of required personnel and student records. PRIMARY RELATIONSHIPS School Board: Accountable to the Board. Attend Board meetings and represent the district. Report to the Board and relevant agencies. Develop programs and policies with the Board. Administrators: Oversee central office personnel and conduct regular meetings. Direct and support administrators in their roles. Evaluate administrators. Others: Collaborate with all outside agencies. Maintains a collaborative relationship with the EMO. Hold necessary meetings with staff and represent the district. Maintain public relations to keep the community informed. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Twelve-month work year. Contract length, salary, and benefits are determined by the Board. EVALUATION Performance evaluated according to Board policy. EDUCATION, LICENSURE, OR CERTIFICATION Master’s Degree in Educational Administration. Administration Certification required. Superintendent’s Certification preferred. Proven success in teaching and administrative roles with increasing responsibilities. Minimum 2 years of district leadership experience. BACKGROUND CHECKS The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check. PHYSICAL AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion. This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping, and long periods of concentration. This position requires occasional overnight travel for professional development and compliance meetings. This position requires daily travel between the Nevada school campuses.
