Job Requirements / Description
Friends University seeks an individual with strong business and leadership experience, as well as significant connections in the Wichita community, to lead the creation of a new Center for Enterprise and Community Engagement (CECE). The CECE Director will serve in a pioneering capacity and will have adequate time to engage the campus and local communities in order to develop the mission and vision of the CECE, a model for the CECE's activities, and an operational plan. The CECE was established via a generous gift from a private donor to mobilize Friends University students majoring in business (and additional fields, as appropriate) to meet the needs of the Wichita community while simultaneously gaining valuable practical experience related to their field of study. The Director will serve as a special appointment (i.e., non-tenure track) faculty member in the Division of Business. The normal teaching load will consist of one course per semester. This teaching load will be waived during the first year of the CECE's existence in order to allow the Director adequate time to pioneer the CECE. The Director will serve as a liaison between the community, faculty, and students in order to develop service-learning opportunities within the Wichita community. The Director will also serve as project manager for the service-learning experiences that occur via the CECE. The Director will actively engage in resource development in order to support the work of the CECE. The CECE has significant financial support for its initial 3-5 years of operations. This will allow the Director adequate time to pioneer and develop the CECE. The initial work of the Director will consist of engaging with potential community partners, as well as Friends University faculty and students, in order to develop the vision and mission for the CECE, as well as an operational plan for the CECE's first years of existence. The Director will form an advisory board to assist with the development of the CECE's mission, vision, and operational plan. Friends University seeks to hire individuals who will embrace the University’s mission and RISE Core Values (Respect, Inclusion, Service and Excellence).
