RESEARCH MANAGER Center for Innovation (C4i) Classification: Level 1 / Class 2048 / Full-Time / Exempt / Contract Anticipated Hiring Salary: $50,000 THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Center for Innovation (C4i) at the UC Law, San Francisco, seeks a Research Manager to support the Center’s research and work directly with Professor Robin Feldman. The research work will include drafting and editing of academic papers, congressional and regulatory testimony, researching materials, and drafting portions of reports for funders and the broader legal community. The research and writing topics will relate largely to legislative and regulatory reform of health care pricing and access, but may also include intellectual property, artificial intelligence, information integrity, and other topics. The ideal applicant will have college or graduate level knowledge of the research techniques necessary to conduct novel research. This is a temporary contract appointment. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Writing sections of white papers, congressional and regulatory testimony, and academic research; Writing reports of results for funders and policymakers; Editing papers designed for peer-reviewed or law journal publications; Designing and implementing research plans; Note-taking on meetings with press, government contacts, and others; Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree, with experience using and understanding data sets and statistical results. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Experience with or ability to learn databases such as Westlaw and Lexis; Basic understanding of standard analysis software such as Microsoft Excel; Experience with research, particularly related to law, policy, or government; Excellent oral and written communication skills, including grammar and spelling; Articulate and detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; Experience with or ability to learn empirical research protocols; Experience with or ability to learn the law review submission and editing process, and the law review blue book citation form; Ability to work in an open, cooperative workspace, although remote work will also be considered.
