Overview:
Abile Group has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Storage Engineer on a 10 year contract providing User Facing and Data Center Services supporting an Intelligence Community customer. All the personnel on the team will work together to support innovative design, engineering, procurement, implementation, operations, sustainment and disposal of user facing and data center information technology (IT) services on multiple networks and security domains, at multiple locations worldwide, to support the IC mission.
The right candidate will possess the below skills and qualifications and be ready to handle all responsibilities independently and professionally.
Responsibilities:
Designs, architects, configures, deploys, upgrades and supports various storage and backup platforms and associated management tools.
Diagnoses and troubleshoots storage systems and other related technologies
Adheres to engineering and architecture standards and participate in technical review meetings as required
Participates in the evaluation, deployment, management, and integration of new technologies in alignment with other engineers, architects, and technical service lanes
Incident support and participation in on-call rotation during off hours and weekends
Creates and maintains documentation: logical/physical diagrams, run books and other technical engineering documents
Consistently demonstrates initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes
Oversees the Installation of new storage hardware and software according to standard operating procedures
Oversees the updates to hardware, operating systems, and software as needed to provide required functionality and security
Ensures systems are monitored and statistics relevant to capacity, performance, utilization, etc. are collected and regularly reviewed
Keeps abreast of current developments in storage and backup technology to assist Federal staff in assessing the future direction of storage and backup technology
Qualifications:
Clearance Required: TS/SCI
Degree and Years of Experience: BS degree and 5+ years of related experience; or equivalent combination
Required Certifications:
CompTIA Security+ or similar for IAT Level II DoD 8570 certification
Desired Certifications:
NetApp Certification
Required Skills:
Hands on engineering experience with NetApp and other storage technologies and concepts
Experience with SAN, NAS and iSCSI storage implementations
Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments
Experience in performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments
Experience with data center migrations and storage replication technologies
Senior level experience with design, development, implementation and maintenance of large-scale systems, preferably across multiple hardware platforms and data centers
Strong understanding of high availability concepts with practical experience and implementation of key components in storage environment
Strong understanding of fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls), iSCSI, Fiber Channel, Ethernet
Strong understanding of essential TCP/IP concepts: TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, etc.
Understanding of security best practices, federal hardening requirements (FISMA, STIG, etc.)
Proficient written and oral communication skills
Strong collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team environment
Ability to take direction
Desired Skills:
PowerShell/Python scripting experience
Experience leveraging scripts to audit and enforce configuration standards
Amazon Web Services / C2S experience
