Your roleTo manage and deliver medium/large IT Business projects to time, cost and quality standards.What you'll be doingBACKGROUNDIn 2024, Corpay will pursue a strategic objective to launch a consumer vehicle payments business in the UK. Until very recently, Corpay has solely focused on acquiring and running companies with B2B, so this is a huge step.Owning and operating a vehicle can be a hassle. It's confusing, time-consuming, and lots of work to manage so many different vehicle payments - staying on top of everything can be a pain.We aim to make vehicle payments simple for consumers by making it easy to pay for all your vehicle needs within just one app.Corpay is now the sole owner of the parking payments company PayByPhone. PayByPhone has good parking coverage in the UK and is a recognized brand with significant active user statistics. We plan to use the PayByPhone app and brand as a channel to launch and grow a new vehicle payments business by adding additional services.Today, PayByPhone is known as an app for one thing: parking. Users familiar with the brand are also familiar with the distress payment necessary to park their vehicles in certain locations. We need to slowly transition this app into one that includes additional services whilst not breaking parking.ROLE PURPOSELead and deliver medium/large IT business projects to time, cost, and quality standards as agreed, setting up and managing the performance of project teams from inception through to post-implementation support, in compliance with standards and governance standards.Ensure projects are managed with regard to quality assurance, risk management, and issue management, supporting with relevant documentation at all stages.Build and develop productive relationships with internal departments, external third parties, suppliers, and key users, liaising and negotiating to resolve issues and ensure commitment to project delivery.As an Engineering Manager, you will be leading and supporting teams to deliver exceptional technology solutions and an outstanding customer experience in our Vehicle Payments Division. You will have a deep understanding of technology and a track record in delivering high-quality solutions in a complex multi-product environment. Operating as both line manager and senior technical leader across small cross-functional development teams you should be able to demonstrate great problem-solving and inspirational leadership skills.Your role will provide fantastic growth opportunities across people leadership, technology delivery, and business understanding. Working in a fast-moving and dynamic technology company that is established as one of the World's leading payment providers.What does success look like for this role:Building brilliant solutions that excite our customers and drive our businesses forward.Creating teams that are continuously learning, improving, collaborating, and having fun.Accelerating delivery and deploying cross-business solutions to aid the quality improvements of our systems.Growing, challenging, and questioning how and why we do things.Keeping on top of the latest movements in technology and tooling to ensure you are continually aware of new opportunities, technical ways of solving problems, and ways of working.Leading, inspiring, and developing squads of technical engineers, testers, and designers across various technologies and platforms.Contribute to and enhance service delivery levels by providing specialist knowledge and advice to the team, identifying opportunities for enhancements to systems, procedures, and standards, recommending innovative solutions and informing the decision-making processes wherever possible.RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONSPeopleLead multiple sprint teams with ability across several delivery areas, teams can consist of between 4 – 10 people per team.Actively work with Agile Delivery Leads and Product Managers to build high-quality technical solutions.Ensure best engineering practices and risk management disciplines are embedded in the software delivery lifecycle.Build an open culture across squads, team members, and functional boundaries Recruitment of new team members – own onboarding and offboarding.Ensure you understand any budgetary considerations that apply to your teams or responsibilities.TechnologyOwn software engineering processes for the product domain and their lifecycle to balance team and stakeholder goals.Drive good patterns and practices across all squads and team members.Guide the team when they are stuck with technology challenges and help to overcome them.Measure what matters: tailor measurement through quantitative and qualitative data to aid decision-making.Foster a learning culture through ongoing experimentation and stretching of skills.Perform Technical Risk Management, ensuring technical risk is solved or mitigated as early as possible.Quality & ProcessOwn quality throughout all aspects of your teams’ work.Be accountable for repeatability in automation and testing to ensure consistent results.Balance Functional and Non-functional metrics. Deliver features while considering the impact on performance, observability, scalability & maintainability.Own production services within the team domain area including priority incidents with our incident management and operations teams and triage processes.Monitor the Infrastructure, PaaS and license costs for the services being used by the team.Budget and cost management across the team including travel and expenses.Collaborate with architects to align decisions with target architectures and share reusable patterns across products.Ensure each squad has appropriate design and architecture support.Drive Process Improvement through a Continuous Improvement mindset.Own the deployment and release cycles of your squads.Support Agile Delivery Lead and Product Managers with refinement, shaping, and sizing work to ensure backlog health matches velocity.ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCELeadership in the delivery of software and leadership of technical resources as a software manager or team leader.Extensive background as a Software Engineer or Senior Developer.Ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely with technical and non-technical audiences at all levels.Willingness to openly assist team members with problem-solving, coupled with the confidence to seek support from others when necessary.Evidence of processes improvement and continuous improvement of SDLC process.Technical mentorship to team members.APIs, Services, Event Driven Architecture, SoA, MicroServices, MicroFrontends.About CorpayCorpay is a global technology organization that is leading the future of commercial payments with a culture of innovation that drives us to constantly create new and better ways to pay.
