Qualifications:
Position Overview:
The Senior Manager, Project Controls and Finance, plays a critical leadership role within NexGen Contracting’s Concrete Division. This senior-level position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of project controls, including cost management, scheduling, and risk analysis, while also leading long-term financial planning, modeling, and the development and tracking of financial and performance metrics. The role demands a strategic thinker with deep expertise in both project management and financial analysis, who can drive project success through effective controls, long-term financial strategy, and leadership.

Project Controls Leadership

Lead and develop the project controls team, setting objectives and ensuring alignment with overall project and company goals.

Develop and implement comprehensive project controls strategies for tracking project performance, costs, schedules, and compliance with industry standards.

Oversee document control processes, ensuring accurate and timely documentation, filing, and retrieval of all project-related documents.

Conduct risk management activities, identifying potential project risks, and developing mitigation strategies.

 

 

Financial Strategy & Management

Lead the development of long-term financial plans, including scenario planning, forecasting, and financial modeling to guide strategic decision-making.

Develop, monitor, and report on financial and operational KPIs, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Collaborate with project management and finance teams to establish and manage budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure the financial health of projects.

Provide financial oversight for projects, including variance analysis, cost forecasting, and profitability assessments.

Performance Metrics & Reporting

Generate detailed reports on project status, including cost forecasts, schedule updates, compliance audits, and risk assessments for senior management.

Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) across projects, ensuring continuous improvement in project performance and financial outcomes.

Drive reporting efforts, including detailed documentation of field time, productivity, materials, safety, and other critical metrics.

Team Development

Foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the project controls and finance function, leveraging best practices and innovative solutions to enhance project outcomes.

Provide leadership and professional development opportunities to project controls and finance team members.

What we expect… (Essential Functions)

 

Minimum of 7 years of experience in project controls, financial management, or related roles within the construction or related industry.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field. An advanced degree is preferred.

Demonstrated proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Timberline, Primavera, CMiC) and the Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage teams effectively.

Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

Superior communication skills capable of engaging with all levels of management, staff, and external stakeholders.

Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 20%) for project oversight and team collaboration.

Generally, normal office environment where noise level is moderate and temperature/humidity is controlled. Overtime may be required.
