SUMMARY: The “Head of Schools” will oversee National Heritage Academies (NHA) upstate New York schools located in Buffalo and Syracuse. The Head of Schools will provide day-to-day operations support for assigned NHA schools, and NHA school Principals will report directly to the Head of Schools. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Know best instructional practices and align support and training to ensure great teaching is being conducted in each classroom. Differentiate coaching to meet the needs of school leaders and accelerate their performance. Ensure school leaders act with urgency and maintain high expectations for staff and students. Coach school leaders to embrace accountability and provide guidance on holding staff accountable. Provide continual leadership coaching to our deans and principal. Responsible for the development of these individuals in all aspects of school leadership, including developing a professional culture of trust. Establish annual performance goals for the principal and review their performance during weekly one-on-one meetings. Act as a liaison between the Executive Director of School Quality and the school principal, helping garner resources when needed to enhance quality of multiple school functions. Collaborate and communicate with Executive Director of School Quality to develop training and support when needs arise. Utilize internal data and assessments to monitor and support school success and make data-driven decisions in key school areas. Be actively involved in dean hiring and ensure teacher hiring process is of high quality and consistent. Review and approve operational items such as the school’s master schedule, investment plan, school budget, School Improvement Plan, etc. Act as a liaison to the school’s Board of Directors when needed, supporting and preparing the principal, and attend board meetings as needed for the purpose of giving feedback and guidance to the principal. Look for trends of success and problems organization-wide, communicating feedback to the Executive Director of School Quality to improve outcomes for the school and students. Model and ensure adherence to the NHA core values. Strive for excellence in student outcomes via data review in areas such as student performance, discipline data, and other key school measures. Conduct classroom and school visits with school team to assess quality, ensuring alignment to the Classroom and Schoolwide Framework. Participate in school-based trainings to check for quality and engagement. Collaborate with Executive Director of School Quality to share ideas and develop school leader. Organize regional principal and dean professional development in conjunction with the Executive Director of School Quality. Attend weekly academic team meetings. Frequent travel to schools including splitting time between Buffalo and Syracuse schools. Travel required. Other duties as directed. QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in education related field, preferred. Minimum 3 years of principal experience. Proven track record of student academic success or significant gains in a principal role. Must have K-8 and/or K-12 experience. Outstanding communication skills with the experience to be an outgoing spokesperson and relationship builder. Position Salary: up to $170K to include base salary and performance bonus based on experience and qualifications.
