SUMMARY:

Provides nurturing care and education to young children in the Keller Early Enrichment Program (KEEP) in accordance with District and program goals. Provide routine care for infants and children in an instructional setting.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Instructional Support Assist in planning, preparing materials, and implementing daily learning activities for children. Conduct age-appropriate activities for children in care including but not limited to reading to children and teaching simple painting, drawing, crafts, and songs. Observe and monitor children's play activities. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom including organizing and storing toys, materials, and personal items belonging to children. Clean and sanitize furniture, equipment, toys, and linens. Sterilize bottles and prepare formulas. Prepare snacks, ensuring safe handling of food for children. Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports. Student Management Supervise and ensure safety and security of children in the classroom, on outings, and to and from outside play areas. Assist children with all physical functions such as feeding, diapering, toileting, walking, and standing. Make teachers aware of special needs or problems of individual students. Observe and document developmental progress of children. Safety Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing. Follow District safety protocols and emergency protocols. Maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certifications. Other Attend and participate in faculty meetings and special events and serve on staff committees as required. Ensure that all interactions with students, District personnel, and parents are supportive, courteous, and respectful. Policy, Reports, and Law Maintain confidentiality. Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents. Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research. Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives. Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators. Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification: High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate Experience: Experience working in an infant/childcare setting Experience in educational environment (preferred)

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Ability to read and verbally communicate with children, staff, and parents Ability to work with groups of children in a positive manner Effective organizational and communication skills Ability to relate to children and adults with courtesy, respect, acceptance, compassion, and patience Ability to work well with children Skill in working with a variety of students in varied situations Ability to be self-motivated and self-directed Ability to read; understand and follow detailed written and verbal instructions Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations

MENTAL/PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 30 pounds) Environment: Work to be completed on-site from assigned school or building; regular exposure to noise and computer monitors No remote work Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather) Frequent exposure to bodily fluids Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress work; prolonged or irregular hours
