Overview:
The VP, Advanced Therapies (AT) will support the SVP, Commercial in the development, maintenance, and execution of strategies to strengthen existing relationships and foster new relationships through the leadership and management of the Advanced Therapies team, which will support the continued growth of FDB and ensure we meet our strategic goals and ambitions.

The VP, Advanced Therapies (AT) will support the SVP, Commercial in the development, maintenance, and execution of strategies to strengthen existing relationships and foster new relationships through the leadership and management of the Advanced Therapies team, which will support the continued growth of FDB and ensure we meet our strategic goals and ambitions.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

All duties pertain to Advanced Therapies services i.e. excluding Biologics & Drug Product/Finished Goods services:

Work with the SVP, Commercial and the Commercial Leadership Team to design and implement strategies to support the growth of FDB aligned with the near-, mid- and long-term plans.

Provide effective leadership and management of the AT team to ensure they develop and nurture deep relationships with customers to identify trends and needs of the market and provide feedback to the wider FDB team to support continued investment and business diversification. 

Management of accounts which require senior support.

Coach and mentor the Executive Directors, AT to ensure they excel in their roles and therefore provide great customer service to all key accounts. 

Take a pro-active role in the Commercial Leadership Team to ensure our strategies continue to be aligned with our FDB goals and we are keeping up to date with new trends and market data, amending the strategy as required. 

Support Commercial Directors in commercial contracts including MSA’s, CSA’s CDA’s, general contract terms etc., whenever required either by advice or by an active role and physical presence in the negotiation process to achieve business targets.

Provide market & competitive intelligence feedback from assigned territories to the VP Commercial, relevant BSG and SBD to enable the Sales and Marketing messaging and strategy to be continually refined.  Provide in market support at customer meetings and conferences.

Ensure the Company Values are driven throughout the business to ensure the Company vision becomes a reality.

Provide leadership at various executive levels meetings, providing commercial insight and operational support as needed.

Be a recognized figure both internally/externally and seen as the principal commercial contact/champion for the Advanced Therapies Service Offering globally.

Work with the broader FDB teams to ensure effective support to the AT team. 

Act as a point of escalation for customer complaints/concerns. 

Support with recruitment, on-boarding, succession planning and career development of the team. 

Allocate leads, clients, RFP’s (requests for proposal) or geographical areas to Commercial Directors to ensure an adequate distribution of the workload and commission potential in line with individual capabilities.

Work collaboratively with the relevant Executive Directors, and Alliance Management to ensure that clients are provided a consistent experience and accounts are not passed between Commercial Directors unless necessary to better support the client needs.

Support the Global sales team in the drafting and execution of transition plans for Advanced Therapy strategic accounts in conjunction with Alliance Management.

Be accountable for team pipeline development, management, and reporting. Provide leadership to teams to ensure that account plans and strategies are targeted and aligned with commercial targets. 

Lead major site customer visits and ensure we have effective cover for all key accounts across the network. 

Attend commercial events to promote the work of FDB and support lead generation. 

Any other duties commensurate with the role.

Education/Experience:

PhD with 12 years of relevant senior level relevant business experience in the biopharmaceutical area and a personal network of contacts in the industry

Or/ Master’s degree with a minimum of 15 years’ experience?in the biopharmaceutical area and a personal network of contacts in the industry 

Essential experience: >10 years of relevant senior level business (business development, sales, marketing) experience in the biopharmaceutical area and a personal network of contacts in this industry

Significant insight in / experience with IP and legal issues

Demonstrated leadership skills; Ability to develop strategic relationships

Proven ability to write business documents

Proven negotiation skills

Proven presentation skills

Demonstrated experience working with Pharma organizations.

Ability to coach and mentor teams. 

Ability to work effectively in a team and lead a teams

Proven evidence of continuing professional development. 

Able to create positive working relationships with customers globally.

Able to influence global leaders.

The US salary range for this position is $250,000 to $325,000. Pay?within this range varies by work location?and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills,?and experience. 

 

Although this may be a remote posting,  the incumbent must resides within a reasonable commuting distance from one of the FDB site locations.   

 

FDBU works with technical data, technology and materials that are subject to U.S. export laws and regulations. This position will require access to technical data, technology and source code that is controlled under U.S. export laws and regulations, including but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations at 22 C.F.R. Parts 120 – 130 and Export Administration Regulations in 15 C.F.R. Part 730 – 774, as may be amended.
