Associate Professor, Africana Studies, University of Maryland, Baltimore County

The Department of Africana Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications for the tenured position of Associate Professor with specialization in Public Health, to begin August 2025.The position is fully located in the Africana Studies Department, with the possibility of teaching courses cross-listed with the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Public Health (SAPH), the School of Social Work, and other campus units. Standard teaching load is 2:3. Preference is given to scholars whose scholarship focuses on the exploration of health equity, race, and social justice from an academic or organizational perspective, community-engaged health promotion and interventions, and/or social and environmental health disparities and impact on vulnerable communities in the United States. A Ph.D. in Africana Studies, Public Health, Social Sciences, Analytics, or a closely related field is required.
